April 15th through April 19th

UNCF Kick-Off!

Firstly, Thank you so much to Ms. Wynns for being our representative. She is going to be placing information in your boxes explaining the campaign and the process for donation.  This is such a great cause and one that is important to the students of our district. Look for more information to follow.

Family Affairs-Please keep Shakila Faqih in your thoughts and prayers as she will be on medical leave for the next month due to her worsening physical condition. Also, please send happy thoughts and prayers to Mrs. Winsor-Porter who will have surgery on her knee on the 22nd. She will also be out til the last week of school.  Both these family members need your support.

Testing Week is April 16-18th and then Friday 4/19th AM only. There will be no specials during this time. Specials will resume after testing on Friday. A schedule to give teachers a break each day will be worked out by specialists.

STAY BANQUET- Monday April 15th  Congratulations to all of our STAY participants. Allison, Ross, Diana, Julie, and Elena. We are proud of you all!

Please be sure to work on completiing your end of year PDP and to sign ip for READING FOUNDATION Choice on Survey Monkey.

Betty Weyker proposed an opportunity to shift the Technology in our school by joining the "MLC." We have a choice to be a part of this. There is training involved. If you are interested, let me know.

Read the information below from Dr. Weycker and follow the link to be informed Intent Forms are due April 19 for schools wishing to allow students and staff to bring their own devices to school for instructional purposes. This form is on the Technology Department’s webpage and can be found at http://wsfcs.k12.nc.us/Page/69938. This is not a pilot (this is not a test…it is the real deal!)! We are providing this opportunity for schools who express an interest in providing instruction in a mobile setting with students bringing their own devices. The training to help teachers prepare themselves in preparation for the school year is extremely important. We are willing to flex times and work with schools but the amount of training we are requiring is minimal to the amount we believe it could be to be successful. After April 19 and the forms are collected we will begin the process of determining the training schedule. Schools who are interested in becoming a MLC campus will be able to schedule the training at their site. Others may require pairing with another school or coming to a common ground for training.  This is an exciting opportunity but truly requires teachers making adjustments such as going from being the deliverer of instruction to the facilitator.
