Dance Benefit A Huge Success!

Thanks to the entire Arts Team for a job well done. Our singers and dancers were awesome. We had performers from Reynolds HS and Parkland HS as well as Miss Stevenson's Dance Co. SIDELONG DANCE COMPANY.  She is an excellent dancer and the kids loved it. We were also delighted by the beautiful singing of Mrs. Ingram and Ms. Farthing. Mrs. Farthing's students did a great job singing. Mrs. Gordon showcased original artwork created by herself and her students which was awesome and Mr. Powelson played the violin with fire in his fingers! Mr. Sumners showcased his students as they played a few songs. They did a great job.  Raffle prizes were given away and the Fifth Grade Honors Dancers stole the show. They have improved greatly. The event raised about $350.00! Thank you PTA for coming out and assisting with raffle and admissions.  I was very proud of all the faculty members who came out to support the Arts Team and our students. I hope I can remember everyone. If I inadvertently leave you out, I am sorry. I am trying to depend on my aging memory:) Thank you to:

    PASTA FOR PENNIES CAMPAIGN!!!!!!!!!
Monies have been coming in.  The contest will run through April 30th.  Continue to bring your donations to help children with Leukemia and Lymphoma(Blood cancers). Everyone is a winner that helps with this effort and Olive Garden would love to prepare the pasta luncheon as a means of saying "THANK YOU" to the class raising the most money.

Also,

It is time to show our school is a "SCHOOL OF KINDNESS".  During the week of April 22-26, please bring your CHAINS OF KINDNESS to the Guidance Office.  I will display them around the school to see just how much kindness you have shown thus far.  One way of earning a link for kindness  is sharing for PASTA FOR PENNIES CAMPAIGN.
Our school is responsible for 12,500 links to help our entire school system reach 1 MILLION LINKS.  CAN WE DO IT?  YES, WE CAN!!!!!!!!   Thanks to all for what you have done and will do.

April 16th

Teachers, please be sure that students are cleaning up after themselves in the cafeteria.  We really want to make sure that tables are clean and ready for each clas. Please be sure to work on completiing your end of year PDP and to sign ip for READING FOUNDATION Choice on Survey Monkey.

Betty Weyker proposed an opportunity to shift the Technology in our school by joining the "MLC." We have a choice to be a part of this. There is training involved. If you are interested, let me know.

Read the information below from Dr. Weycker and follow the link to be informed Intent Forms are due April 19 for schools wishing to allow students and staff to bring their own devices to school for instructional purposes. This form is on the Technology Department’s webpage and can be found at http://wsfcs.k12.nc.us/Page/69938. This is not a pilot (this is not a test…it is the real deal!)! We are providing this opportunity for schools who express an interest in providing instruction in a mobile setting with students bringing their own devices. The training to help teachers prepare themselves in preparation for the school year is extremely important. We are willing to flex times and work with schools but the amount of training we are requiring is minimal to the amount we believe it could be to be successful. After April 19 and the forms are collected we will begin the process of determining the training schedule. Schools who are interested in becoming a MLC campus will be able to schedule the training at their site. Others may require pairing with another school or coming to a common ground for training.  This is an exciting opportunity but truly requires teachers making adjustments such as going from being the deliverer of instruction to the facilitator.
