I am most looking forward to supporting all of you with your staff development needs. I am here to support, encourage and challenge you! I plan to contribute to a positive school climate by being visible, and helping you celebrate all the "wins" big and small. I also plan to be a good listener. If you need me, I am here for you! I really love my job and am passionate about working together in moving our school forward so that all of our students succeed!
I am looking forward to using what I learned about interventions last year with my experience with RtI. I think it will definitely be beneficial to be able to put the theory and data tracking/progress monitoring that was required from the staff into my own classroom. As for a positive climate--I like to just leave everything at the door. I will help anyone who needs it and I think it should be reciprocated. We are a team with a common goal and it is the right thing to do.
I have a new slogan this year ASK, ANSWER, DISCUSS. I listened to a brain surgeon this summer talk about the way our brain takes information from short term to long term memory.....it seemed to line up with my slogan for the year and what I was planning to do in my classroom. Good Scientist, Readers, Mathematicians, always ask questions of the material they read, the problems that they are presented with, and they seek to answer those questions....discussion always brings the content to a deeper level. ASK me how it went at the end of the year, I'll give you and ANSWER then we can DISCUSS what we learned together!!!!
I love the new slogan. If students follow it and take it to heart, there will be no stopping them. Being able to understand a problem and solve it in a variety of ways is key to their success. Thank you for being so reflective in determining how you make great teaching even better and tailored to meet student need!
I attended 2 week-long professional developments on math this summer plus participated in a book study on guided math. I am looking forward to implementing all that I learned to help my students succeed as mathematicians. In order to contribute to a positive school climate I plan to celebrate our successes, no matter how small.
I know you learned a lot this summer. I can't wait to see your knowledge put into action. Thank you for taking time from your summer to be a learner. You already are a leader!
As a first year teacher I look forward to growing and learning alongside my students! I definitely have a lot to learn but I most look forward to seeing how my students come into their own and develop from day one until the end of the year. I hope to contribute to the positive school environment by maintaining a positive and learning attitude like that we hope to see in our students. Let's have a great year!
Treasure your first year as it will fly by. We are so fortunate you are starting your first year here with us. You can make a positive difference in the life of a child. Have a great year. We are here for you!
I loved getting to know my students last week, they are great kids! I really want my students to know that I care about them and I want them to succeed and do great things! I am excited to see the 5th graders grow and become more independent this year as they are preparing for middle school. I would like to contribute to the positive school environment by keeping a positive attitude and encouraging my students to do the same. It's going to be a great year!
I love your enthusiasm and positive attitude. You will have a great year!
This year, I will continue to integrate the Core and Encore Essential Standards in my Art classes and differentiate with my AIG students. I will also share ideas with teachers on the Differentiation Blog, particularly through my Pinterest Boards for "Teaching Ideas" and "Differentiation."To contribute to the positive environment, I am managing the school twitter account: www.twitter.com/diggslatham and the art twitter account: www.twitter.com/diggslathamart. I have set up a mini iPad for these accounts so I can capture moments around the school, take photos, and "tweet" about all the exciting things that are going on in our school.
Amanda, thank you for utilizing technology to "tweet" all of the happenings at Diggs-Latham. You are contributing to our positive school climate and celebrating students, staff and teachers in "real-time". Your blogs are awesome and I suggest anyone who has not visited to do so. Thank you for going above and beyond.
I plan to continue as a positive role model for our students and to be available to consult with staff regarding any health concerns that they may have for their students. Along with this, and most importantly, my unique CFST role allows me to work intensely with those students who are at risk of academic failure or out of home placement. Ms. Barger and I will continue our efforts to reach those families with the greatest disparities. Remember...if you do not see us on campus we are out working with those students that most need our support in the home and community. If you have concerns for someone in your classroom, please let us know.
Kim, You are a treasure and so very important to our students, our families and the community as a whole. You help us see the true connection between academic success and failure and the well being of a child. It is so evident that you truly "care" about all of our students. Thank you for your dedication:)
I am most looking forward to workshop time with my students. This is a time when I really can get to know them and watch them grow academically. It is so rewarding to watch a child master a concept, and I get an opportunity to observe this during small group work. I hope to maintain a positive attitude throughout the entire school year. I am really looking forward to working with everyone here at Diggs-Latham.
Andrew, every time I see you, you have a smile on your face so you are already contributing to a positive environment. Your first paragraph is the reason I became a teacher in the first place. When you really "know" your students and can guide them through effective tiered instruction, there is no stopping their growth. Thank you for making the connections needed with our students. Welcome to DL.
I am really excited about integration. I know PE can come alive with integrating math, reading, technology and more. The possibilities are endless. This will give students the possibility to learn new things while practicing skills they are learning in their classroom. I am also very excited about starting a run/walk/crawl group at Diggs-Latham for the teachers. This gives teachers a chance to meet each other outside of the classroom and begin to form relationships with each other. I will also be positive each and every day and try to make each student's day just a little bit better.
Ross, you have taken on the challenge to get all of us FIT and Healthy. I am proud of the way you have stepped up as a leader over and over. The scheduling team reiterated this to me over and over. I know that you will teach our students the importance of living a healthy life in which fitness is a daily event. Our staff will also benefit from your knowledge as we run, walk and crawl in order to be fit, reduce stress, and balance our lives! Thank you!
I am looking forward to strengthening our positive climate through celebrating all that great things that make our school a truly wonderful place to grow and learn. I want to also focus on making sure that we are working daily to demonstrate to students that we believe in them and all that they can accomplish today and in the future.
You have an innate ability to help us sustain a positive climate. You care about and truly respect all children. They are drawn to you as they know you are their advocate. I have also noticed the way you interact with our parents and the community. You are an awesome principal and I couldn't do my job as effectively without you. Thank you!
I am looking forward to supporting the classroom teachers to the best of my abilities as we grow readers and writers. I want to continue to build relationships with the children and their families. They are such a joy! The folks around here are the best!
Julie, I appreciate your positive comments. Your work is very important. Please continue to deliver targeted reading instruction for all your students. By believing in them, as you do, you will give them the confidence to move forward. Thank you!
I am looking forward to working with the first, second, and third grade teachers and their students in order to help grow the students in reading and math. I am also looking forward to getting to know all of the new teachers.
Mary, I was so inspired by how seriously you took the growth of each of your students in Dibels last year. You were one of their biggest cheerleaders. Thank you for that and for really "Knowing" your students and what they needed to get to the next step! Kudos!
I am looking forward to a full school year of implementing the HillRAP reading program with my students. I tried one group at the end of last year and this year I am beginning with two. I look forward to the growth and progress of all of my students! My plan for contributing to positivity in the building will be following the 7 habits of highly effective people. I want to keep a positive attitude and outlook and be a team player. I want to lead by example for our students who will be leaders by following these habits! I think if you believe it you can achieve it and I believe we are going to have a GREAT year at Diggs-Latham!
I can't wait to see you implementing the HillRAP program. I also look forward to seeing growth. You seem to always have a smile on your face and are so good at sharing your positive outlook on life, our school family and the students you teach. Thank you for that.
I am most looking forward to be a part of classrooms...I want to help teachers help students. It's going to be a great year at Diggs-Latham!
Katie, no doubt that you will effectively and positively touch a lot of lives at our school with your positive attitude, encouragement, and leadership. You are always willing to go the extra mile to help everyone. You never say, "no". We appreciate you. Thank you!
I am looking forward to many new experiences and knowledge to learn from assisting in the HI Pre K classroom.
Welcome to Diggs-Latham. Your job is a very important and valuable one. You have the opportunity to assist incredible students as they learn and explore.
I'm looking forward to watching my students grow in their skills and taking them to the next level. I enjoy the aha moments when they master a concept or skill! I will contribute to our positive school culture by having a positive attitude and to be willing to help my fellow coworkers and students to be successful. We need to have a positive outlook throughout the year!
Thank you for being willing to reach out to others. Being the newbie on the block can be a daunting task. A kind word of encouragement goes a long way! Thank you!
I am looking forward to delivering instruction to my new little ones in a organized and precise way; making information available and organized. I am also looking forward to continuing with S.W.A.G. this year helping the students set goals and strive for greatness.
Love this Tryla...It is so important to set goals and follow through with them. Our students do need to learn this early so that are prepared for their educational futures. You are providing them with a useful 21st century skill. I know where I can always find some SWAG when I need to see kids actively engaged!!!
This year I am looking forward to introducing/reintroducing our students to band and increasing there knowledge of band and instrumental music. I can't wait to see what they are interested in and watch them grown and become musicians. I also look forward to them learning team work and practice through band, and learning to use this in all classes.I would like to contribute to this positive environment by striving to stay positive about even the hardest things and forming good positive relationships with all the teachers so that I can work well with this overall team!
Let the Music fill the air! We are so excited about our students having the opportunity to learn from you. You are positive, motivated and energetic. You have already formed relationships with our faculty and students. Our school will certainly benefit from the knowledge you will bestow on us! Great job!
I'm looking forward to getting to know my students more in the coming weeks. It has already been so great seeing their personalities come out during the day. I look forward to finding out more about their interests and incorporating it in instruction to get them excited about being in school. A big rule for us is to use kind words and actions at all times. I hope to encourage my students every day to be positive role models to students in the school, even at five years old.
You have survived your first few weeks of school and are really on your way to creating a safe, structured and learning filled environment. The kids seem to love you. Keep building those relationships! You are off to an awesome start.
I'm looking forward to getting to know the staff at Diggs-Latham this year and appreciate everyone's open arms and help as I begin my new journey. I am looking forward to watching my students grow socially and academically this year and helping parents through the use of various strategies. I would like to contribute to the positive atmosphere at Diggs as we continue the school year.
Welcome. We are glad you are here and so excited about your students being mainstreamed into specials. What a great learning opportunity for all. Your rapport with your students is incredible. You and Mrs. Friday are a great team!
Now that I have known most of the upper grade students for 4 years I am looking forward to watching them CREATE their own integrated movement studies instead of always looking for mimicked movement. As for the little ones I am always excited to watch them BE children and laugh and grow while subconsciously achieving milestones in core curriculum. As far as climate, I hope to continuously be a ready source for our students and parents. Whether it be to share a laugh or achievement, hold a hand to the bus, wipe a tear, be a shoulder to colleagues, or discuss the tough development issues with parents. I love our school and our students. I couldn't imagine accomplishing new material each year without my team and community.
Building relationships with students, parents and colleagues will be key to our success. Laughing, smiling and a sense of humor will often see us through difficult times. Thank you for realizing and implementing this very effective tool. Also, can't wait to see the students create their own ideas of movement.
I am looking forward to implementing some new things that I learned from math foundations over the summer. I have also joined the guided reading book club in which I am learning lots of new things regarding guided reading. I would also like to implement some of those new ideas in my classroom. To create a positive school climate I will always try to think positive and model the importance of having a positive attitude to my students. I want to try and celebrate all of our small successes throughout the year. Lastly I would like to help and encourage all of out new staff members.
What would you say the most valuable piece of information you have learned about Guided Reading is so far? The information will help your colleagues. Kudos to your book club for taking the initiative to learn even more. I am proud of all of you!
I am looking forward to implementing all the information I have learned at recent ESL trainings and workshops. I plan to use Whole Brain Teaching methods to teach the LEP students this year. I appreciate the the kindness the staff has shown me as they have made me feel so welcome here at DIggs-Lantham. I am looking forward to a wonderful and productive school year.

I look forward to increasing the level of our kids' communicative competence. I also want to increase my Spanish vocabulary so that I can better meet the needs of the ESL students that I serve. I will remain positive throughout this school year, reminding myself that it's all about the children. It is a pleasure serving each of them!!!!!
I love your post! Increasing your Spanish Vocabulary is a great goal that will directly benefit our students. Thank you for being so positive!
I am so excited to begin my first year teaching at Diggs-Latham! I am surrounded by an amazing staff and can not wait to learn from all of you. I also want to stay positive even when the times get tough. I also want to instill within my students that same positive energy. I will remind them daily that I care for them. I also will encourage that we are all growing and I am here to help.
I look forward to putting some of the professional development strategies that two of the first grade team members shared with me while at Meredith. Also, I plan to achieve my PDP goal of increasing my students' reading levels. I will continue to have a positive mind set and believe that our students' can and will succeed!
